As children progress from Reception, we are the gateway into main school. It is our aim to ensure that all of our children experience a smooth and seamless transition from the foundation unit into our key stage. We aspire to give our children the skills needed to become independent and enthusiastic learners.
We work as a team to plan and deliver a broad range of exciting, challenging and motivating lessons based on the national curriculum. In the mornings learning is focussed on English and Maths. To enable children to become confident and fluent readers we teach daily phonics lessons which provide the building blocks needed to develop key reading skills. During our afternoons, topic activities provide the main focus.
In Key Stage One we value parental support. We offer a variety of parent sessions throughout the year, where parents are invited to come into school to find out more about our learning and to take part in craft afternoons.
