International Day of People with Disabilities

December 3rd is the International Day of People with Disabilities.  Key Stage 1 had an assembly to find out about it.

It is the International Day of People with Disabilities on December 3rd.  Key Stage 1 discovered that disability means that someone has a hard time doing certain things that most people can do easily. This could be because of their body or how their brain works.

We had an assembly about disability and learnt that not all disabilities can be seen. Disabilities can be visible or invisible. They can be physical or mental.

It’s important to know that everyone is special in their own way. Having a disability just means they might do things differently, but they can still have fun and be happy! People with disabilities want and deserve to be treated with the same respect as anyone else!  We were given a bookmark to personalise during Golden Time to help remind us of the day.
