Supporting Mental Health
As part of our whole school ethos, we are committed to supporting all children and parents throughout their time at Dallimore.
We realise that we face many challenges both at home and at school, and it is important that we are able to work alongside parents in order to identify anyone who might need some support.
In the main we support children through our Thrive provision, but there are times when we complete referrals to external agencies.
Below is some information about some of the organisations we use, what services they offer and links to websites and info.
If you are worried about your child's mental health (either at home or at school) please contact a member of staff at school or email concerns@dallimore.derbyshire.sch.uk
Our Mental Health Lead in school is Miss Katie Reynolds and she is supported by the Mental Health Ambassadors (children from across school), other Thrive practitioners and the Safeguarding Team.

CAMHS stands for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. CAMHS support children and young people aged 0-18 (and their families) with a wide range of mental health difficulties in Derby and south Derbyshire.
Mental health is something we all have and, just like physical health, at some times in our lives we struggle with it. Sometimes we develop mental health problems, such as feeling very sad or worrying a lot. When this happens, these difficulties can stop us living our life in the way we want to.
Lots of children and young people go to CAMHS with a wide range of difficulties. Around one in eight children and young people have a diagnosable mental health disorder- that's about three children in every classroom.

Parent/carer support - Compass (compass-uk.org)
A number of parents have attended the 'Beyond Behaviour' group and have found the support through this invaluable. One parent said
"I really enjoyed coming to the group. Sam and Hayley were lovely and always ready to listen. I was given lots of information for different strategies to use. I always felt listened to and supported. It was nice to know I wasn’t alone and other parents are in a similar situation."

The service is available for children and young people dealing with bereavement that are users of Treetops Hospice services and people registered with a GP practice in Derby city, Southern Derbyshire or Erewash
Just like adults, children and young people who have been bereaved may find themselves struggling with a powerful range of emotions. It’s important to remember that everyone grieves in their own unique way. There are many different feelings and emotions that a grieving child might experience.
Who can we help?
The bereavement may have occurred at any time in the past. Many of our referrals are in relation to unexpected and/or traumatic bereavement.
The service is available for as long as the child, or young person need them in relation to dealing with their loss. Once sessions end there is always the possibility of taking up further support should the need arise.
All services are provided free of charge, and are not means-tested.
Initial contact can be made by professionals, family members, or by children and young people themselves.
Please phone us on 0115 949 6944 during our opening hours (8.30am-4pm Monday-Thursday, 8.30am-3.30pm Friday).
We will arrange an assessment with you, at which the most appropriate form of support for you can be discussed.

First Steps

We believe that support should be available for all those affected by eating difficulties and disorders, including family, carers, parents and support professionals.
Eating disorders are rarely about food – sufferers often just use this as a way of coping with their underlying emotional difficulties or mental illness in more severe cases.
Children requiring support (as well as their parents and carers) can access our services at no cost. As a charity, we are funded by the generosity of people whose contributions allow us to provide these services free of charge (you can learn more about our funders and commissioners here.) Some of our other core services are funded, but some come at a cost to adults. If you need further assistance, information or support in accessing our services please contact our team.
