TWICE WEEKLY TESTING OF SCHOOL STAFF

You may or may not be aware that from Monday 25th January all STAFF in primary schools are invited to participate in twice weekly Covid testing using a 'lateral flow test'. Participation is optional.

In short, this is a Covid test, administered at home, which indicates either a negative presence of the virus or a possible positive. If a positive test is shown then staff must isolate and book a full Covid test to confirm this.

The reason for this testing is to try and identify anyone who may be carrying the virus but showing no symptoms (asymptomatic). Data shows that approx 1 in 3 positive cases show no symptoms. Anyone with a confirmed positive test will have to isolate in line with the Gov.uk guidance.

IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN IN SCHOOL then you need to be aware that this may potentially cause unavoidable disruption to our daily provision:

ie if a adult from your child's bubble records a positive test, and has recently been in school, then it is likely that the bubble WILL NOT attend until confirmation has been received with a follow up test.

I have asked staff to submit their results by 8.00am (they take approx 35mins) so that we can let parents know asap if they need to keep their children at home.

I appreciate this may cause further disruption and we are hoping that this will be kept to a minimum.

If you have any questions about this I will do my best to answer them.

Thanks
Mrs C

STRUGGLING WITH MOBILE DATA ALLOWANCE?

There are two options for you to get some FREE data:

1. The Department for Education is running a pilot offer to increase mobile data allowances for children and young people. This must be applied for through school and to enable us to do this we require specific information from parents. This information will be treated in confidence and in line with GDPR guidelines.

The offer

What data someone will get depends on their mobile network. Some networks can’t offer data to Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) customers.

• you will receive a text message when your free data has been activated and when it will end
• this data can be used when tethering a mobile phone to another device for internet access

Who can get help

This scheme is open to children and young people who:

• don’t have access to a fixed broadband connection
• cannot afford the additional data needed to access educational resources or social care services
• have access to a mobile device that uses a participating network
• are facing disruption to their face-to-face education, or have been advised not to attend school

What information we will need to collect

To request extra mobile data, you will need to collect the following information:

• the account holder’s name
• their mobile number (a number beginning with ‘07’)
• their mobile network
• whether they pay monthly or pay as they go

Privacy policy:

OR

2. We have some Vodafone 30GB data only SIM cards. These may not work in all phones but the leaflet that accompanies these explains how you can use these effectively but you may need to contact your network to unlock your phone

IF YOU ARE STRUGGLING WITH HAVING ENOUGH DATA FOR YOUR CHILD TO ACCESS THEIR HOME LEARNING THEN PLEASE COMPLETE THE SURVEY BELOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND WE WILL SEE WHAT WE CAN DO TO HELP YOU OUT.
